Hello there! My name is Zaida, but you may call me Beanz, or Beanie. I am a full time student attending college at Northwestern University, who found a hobby in beading, and wanted to share my pieces with amazing people!
I am originally from Minot, North Dakota, but stay in Evanston, Illinois during the school-year.
My nickname & shop is named Beanz because my abuelita gave me the name (she called me zaida beans, but I added the 'Z' for the cool effect). To calm me down as a baby, she gave me an empty bottle full of beans, which I found great joy in.
I named the shop after the nickname my grandma gave me to not only remember my humble beginnings, but also to give my grandma tribute, since she has blessed me with both resources (90% of my beads are from her) and motivation to create & share my hobby with the world.
I am a Native business owner (Hidatsa and Arikara), a Latina business owner (Mexican), and an African American business owner. I am proudly a mixed business owner.
